Spacefunk, Visions, and other stuff

I'm into July, which is a relatively calm month for me considering. No cons or conventions, which frees up my weekends to do some catch up work. Unfortunately, no events means weak sales for the month. I'm still struggling to increase my direct sales, but for now it seems y'all would rather see me while you're purchasing my books than purchase from my store. That's flattering, but it works me a bit. But that's my challenge. Let's talk about some stuff.

Spacefunk!

First of all, thank y'all for the support. We're at the halfway point with the Kickstarter and almost to the halfway point with funding. I knew this would be a challenging journey, and I appreciate every donation. John Jennings, a good friend, premiere Afrofuturism artist and scholar has contributed some amazing images for Spacefunk covers and posters, and people continue to pledge and share. I'm cautiously optimistic we'll reach our goal. If we do, it will be the most money I've raised on Kickstarter.

A Palmetto Christmas Preorder Progress

My first foray into contemporary fiction is available for preorder, and I'm not gonna lie. I'm nervous. Although I've received great feedback, this is a new genre for me, almost like starting over. I don't even know if there's a market for a 'cozy Christmas' novel, but I guess I'm about to find out. Whether there is or not, it's a book I would have written regardless. I'm sure I'm not the only person that reads to escape, and writing it was calming for me. Whatever happens, it will be fun. And there are sequels planned, so stay tuned.

Upcoming Events

The party continues in August! I have Black Writers Weekend the first weekend of August and the Big One, DragonCon, Labor Day Weekend. I expect to do well at DragonCon, but the BWW will be a new environment for me with a new audience. I'm using it as a soft launch for A Palmetto Christmas, so I hope it goes well.

So that's it for now. I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but that's probably for the best. Makes for shorter blogs. Anyway, enjoy the weekend!
