Hey y'all! My new Ki Khanga story, Nfasu's Braid, is now available from MVmedia (me) and anywhere books are sold. It's a short story in ebook format, a teaser of what's to come with Ki Khanga. Balogun Ojetade and I are working on new novels, new stories, and new additions to the Sword and Soul role-playing game world, and I know you're going to love them.
Here's the story description: Nfasu kaFunani has seen many seasons and many wars, yet he refuses to give up the braid and take his place as an elder. A new war comes, and he is called to lead young warriors to battle. But this time, Nfasu senses he may not return.
Nfasu is Zambulu, from the region of Ki Khanga known as Zambululand. It is a land of separate warlike realms, a place of fierce warriors and sweeping landscapes. It's also a land where a warrior can find many opportunities to gain honor, but also die trying.
I would be lying if I said this story wasn't somewhat personal. As a martial artists, I've experienced the ravages of age and been too proud to admit it. It was that concept that formed the core of Nfasu's Braid. It was also inspired by the Maasai people. Their warriors, known as morans, spend their youth protecting the villages and raiding cattle. But when they reach a certain age, they must put down their weapons to become elders. Part of that transition is cutting their braids.
The inks for the cover image were done by Emax Emmanuel Olumide, who did an amazing job based on the references I shared with him.

The colors were done by Prince Bhadmus, who decided to give me a choice. I chose the lighter background based on the recommendation of my cover designer, Uraeus.

I really like this story. It's been a while since I've a chance to write some action-filled Sword and Soul, and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Just click the preferred link below and enjoy the adventure. Sword and Soul Forever!
