I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. Nicole delivers a solid mystery story in the midst of a unique and fascinating world. And the cover is gorgeous. So many questions ran through my mind as I read it, such as is this a unique fantasy world, or is this an evolution of our present world? Nicole does a deft job presenting this world without infodumps, using the characters' personalities and the situations her main character Prentice Tasifais encounter to share the details with the reader. At the end I was satisfied with the story yet eager to travel with Prentice on her next case so I could learn more about her and the kingdom of Aves.
